This capstone unit is the culmination of learning that has taken place throughout your program to provide you with the knowledge and skills of professional and ethical issues in relation to finance and the management of investments on an individual and portfolios bases. The economy plays and ever increasing role in finance and you will research threats and opportunities while exploring determinants and influences of financial frameworks.

You will use techniques for analysing investments with a focus on maximising expected returns while minimising risk. Creating a portfolio of investments will provide you with a tool in achieving the aim of the unit and provide you with the opportunity to gain real world experience in a professional context.

This unit includes a Work Integrated Learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.

In this unit you will be encouraged to be an active learner. Your learning will be support through various online discussions and activities comprising of individual and group work. These may include quizzes; assignments; prescribed readings; sourcing, researching and analysing specific information; solving problems; producing written work and collaborating with peers on set tasks or projects.

On successful completion of this unit you will be able to:

  1. Create an investment portfolio in a sustainable manner using business design thinking to provide solutions and recommendations to a client's organisation
  2. Research and think creatively to generate innovative solutions to manage issues in an authentic business context
  3. Apply ethical and interpersonal skills to work in teams and to communicate effectively with clients
  4. Critically reflected on your executive career potential and lifelong learning.
