This unit aims to develop leadership capacities, such as being able to ethically influence others and thereby improve the performance of organisations. Drawing on your experience as a manager, you will learn not only from the reading materials but also from comparisons and contrasts between what you read and what you are experiencing in your workplace.

On successful completion of this unit you will be able to :

  1. apply leadership concepts and practices to a range of organisational settings
  2. recognise own behaviour, skills and aptitudes relevant to your role as a leader and manager, and identify appropriate avenues for ongoing professional development
  3. develop effective practices for dealing with diversity and cross-cultural management issues
  4. improve organisational performance and productivity by considering contemporary views on the alignment of people and organisations
  5. devise and design solutions to problems which commonly face managerial leaders by applying theoretical frameworks and research findings.
