This course seeks to deveop understandings and skills for individuals in relation to the complexities of being a managerial leader. The course examines various approaches to leadership, from early theories to recent perspectives. A key feature of this course is to highlight the distinction between management and leadership capabilities and how both contribute to organisaitonal effectiveness. The course is intended to encourage
students to think creatively about the capabilities required of professional managers and leaders, with an emphasis on self-development related to organisational development.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Apply your business knowledge of leadership and management
  • Prioritise competing demands and effectively manage your time
  • Demonstrate an understanding of organisational strategic priorities and design structures and systems in relation to the external strategic environment
  • Present and communicate ideas clearly and succinctly using correct English spelling and grammar, successfully engage an audience
