This is a foundation unit within the MBA Executive program. In this unit, we operationalise the concept of design thinking in international and local business, and examine how the tools of business design can be employed across the disciplines and functions covered in this program. Drawing on your experience as a manager, this unit will provide opportunities to consider global business problems, and those in your own industry and professional context. Adopting design thinking methodology and tools, you will lead teams to analyse, define and create sustainable and ethical solutions to contemporary business issues.

This unit requires on-campus attendance in Melbourne. Attendance for the 4-day intensive is compulsory.

On successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between problem solving methodologies and integrate design thinking approach to create options that address business problem
  2. Create end-user driven solutions to business problems utilising design thinking tools
  3. Evaluate ways in which design thinking is applied to various industries and professions
  4. Formulate a team strategy to develop creative, sustainable and ethical solutions to national and international business issues
  5. Generate communication strategies to identify creative end user solutions to business problems.
