This unit aims to provide the necessary framework for future professionals to successfully make and support strategic managerial decisions. Developed from decision-making and strategic management perspective, the unit concentrates on issues that emphasise practical managerial applications within organisations.

This unit contains group work and an oral presentation. Students will be required to work in small groups to complete one of the assessment tasks aligned with a case study and provide an oral presentation as part of another assessment task aligned with a report.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. demonstrate an integration of knowledge and practice from foundational business units undertaken in the course by effectively crafting a business strategy, reasoning carefully about strategic options, and use what-if analysis to evaluate action alternatives
  2. demonstrate competence in the team decision processes involved in effectively solving managerial problems
  3. analyse an organisation's internal and external environments within a competitive global environment, and recommend appropriate and ethical corporate strategic options and implementation strategies aimed to improve overall business performance and to provide the company with a sustainable competitive advantage
  4. demonstrate a working knowledge of the current theories, common tools and best practice applications of strategic management.
