This unit follows on from CHN221 and concentrates on presenting language items that can be used in the everyday situations you are likely to encounter in both Australian and Chinese contexts. The unit presents a range of learning activities that can be integrated into any busy lifestyle and points out the difficulties you may encounter, providing suggestions on how to resolve or avoid them.

You will need access to a computer, broadband internet connection, a webcam and a headphone for this unit. Native speakers of Mandarin and other Chinese dialects such as Cantonese and Hokkienese are not eligible for this unit.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. recognise and write the required Chinese characters
  2. read and comprehend short texts in Chinese on the topics covered in the unit
  3. discuss topics covered in the unit in Chinese
  4. engage in short conversations in Chinese.
