This unit was previously known as Painting: Development and Extension.

This unit is designed to further develop your capacity for research-based enquiry into skills, techniques, methods and processes of fine art. You will develop and extend your practical engagement with the studio research process. You will apply advance technical and conceptual skills to develop a series or artworks based in painting.

You must supply your own art materials and have access to a scanner and digital camera for documenting your artwork for assessment.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. extend the boundaries of knowledge within a painting art specialism by applying appropriate methods or processes
  2. evaluate new art materials and recommend innovative approaches to art practice
  3. document the decision-making and experimentation process in order to present studio research.
