This unit introduces students to the fundamentals common to art and design practices.

The aim of the unit is to increase awareness of possibilities and to equip students with conceptual tools that can be used for generating, developing and refining art and design ideas. As well the unit develops analytical skills for trouble-shooting when an art or design work is not developing as intended.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. identify the principles of Art and Design to enable the solutions of visual problems
  2. develop and apply skills to demonstrate an understanding of Art and Design principles
  3. solve visual problems using logical and creative reflection.
