This unit introduces students to the alphabet, basic morphology, syntax and vocabulary of Biblical Hebrew.

At the completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. work in a fully online enhanced learning environment, to consolidate and synthesise knowledge of the morphology, syntax and further select vocabulary of the Hebrew Bible
  2. read selected passages from the Hebrew Bible, eg. Jonah, and translate them into idiomatic English demonstrating understanding of the variety of translational approaches, including formal and dynamic equivalence
  3. use knowledge of Hebrew to analyse, explore and articulate more complex exergetical arguments in the Hebrew Bible studies.
