Last Monday 12th September, Open Universities Australia (OUA) rubbed shoulders with the AFL's elite to celebrate the 2011 Most Valuable Player Awards.

As the principle sponsor for the awards ceremony, OUA congratulates all winners including Carlton's Chris Judd who took out the prestigious Most Value Player Award.

OUA was also proud to deepen its involvement with the AFL Players' Association this year by sponsoring three other important awards; Best Captain, Most Courageous and the Education & Training Award which was presented by OUA's Education Ambassador Jimmy Bartel.

2011 also marks the 5th year anniversary of the two organisations working together to promote the off-field opportunities that online study affords players, particularly when contemplating a life after football.

Jimmy Bartel reinforced the benefit of online study to elite athletes by sharing his positive OUA experience: "It's the best option for me because with training it's very tough to get to lectures and tutes. It enables me to sit down and study when I have the available time and choose a pace of learning that fits in with my lifestyle."
