The universities that provide courses through OUA offer alternative format study materials to support students with a disability, including:
- DAISY format
- Large print
- Lecture transcripts
How to get support
To get the support you need to study online through OUA, it's important to nominate that you require assistance when enrolling. It's also important that you allow plenty of time to have your alternative format study materials organised. To do this:
- Enrol at least one Study Period (13 weeks) in advance
- When you're enrolling, either online or using paper enrolment form (PDF), complete the disability support questions and nominate that you need assistance
- Contact the university that provides your course or unit directly (contact details below) to organise your alternative format study materials.
Arranging your exams
You can apply to have your special needs accommodated when sitting a supervised exam by contacting the disability officer at the university that provides your unit(s). You can find details for the disability officers at each of the OUA provider universities below.
How to apply for alternative exam arrangements
If you need to have any changes made to your exam arrangements you can apply for what's called an Alternative Assessment Arrangement (AAA).
As part of your AAA application, the university responsible for providing your course or unit will ask you to complete a Medical Evidence Form (PDF) with supporting evidence from a recognised practitioner and send these to the provider disability support services. The disability officers will then work with you to decide what arrangements can be made and will liaise with OUA Exam Services to make sure that your requirements are met.
