The Sports Coaching courses provide expertise to prepare coaches for elite level coaching at both the junior and professional levels through the development of a range of skills, particularly related to leadership and management roles. There is strong demand for well qualified coaches in a wide variety of sports. The Graduate Certificate/Master of Sports Coaching emphasises advanced studies in the scientific, management and leadership aspects of sports coaching.
Career Outcomes
Graduates will have opportunities in careers such as high performance coach, director of coaching, coach educator or sports development officer in addition to leadership and management roles in sports associations.
Eligibility
Academic
Applicants must hold either:

a suitable Bachelor degree in a related field e.g. Exercise Science, Human Movement, Physical Education
OR
-
satisfy the course convenor that, based on post-secondary study and work experience, the student is suitably qualified for admission. Applicants will be required to submit a detailed resume.
English language requirements
International applicants must provide and English test result no more than two years old in either:

IELTS score of 6.4 with no sub-score less than 6.0
OR
-
ISLPR with no score less than 3+ in each skill

Next steps:
After submitting your application, you should receive a confirmation email containing
a copy of your application for your records.
Your application will be assessed within 2-4 weeks, and if further information is
required, we will contact you. Once your application has been assessed, we will

Prepare supporting documents

Check that you have all the required documents, according to individual course
requirements and your personal circumstances, specifically:
- Your curriculum vitae - required for entry into postgraduate courses
only.
- Certified
copies of academic transcripts - required in most cases but check course
eligibility rules.
- A letter of recommendation from your employer on company letterhead -
recommended for entry using work experience.
- Certified legal documentation - if you have changed your name e.g. a marriage
certificate, deed poll name change certificate.
- Certified legal documentation - if you need to correct an error in your date of
birth e.g. a birth certificate.
- English language test results - if your courses were not predominantly in
English e.g. IELTS
or equivalent test results.
- Official translations of any documents not in English.
A "certified" copy is a copy bearing the recognised mark of a Justice of the Peace,
Commission of Oaths or declarations, Public Notary or a Solicitor.

Award Requirements
To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate in Sports Coaching students must complete four units.
Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit
Students may be awarded RPL for a maximum of two units upon application to the course convenor.
Credit transfer arrangements can be made for a maximum of two units for the Graduate Certificate and Master of Sports Coaching.
Registering in this Course
OUA students should notify Griffith University of their intention to graduate with the award of Graduate Certificate or Masters of Sports Coaching in the final year of their studies.
