The Graduate Certificate in Employment Law is for people working or seeking to work in the human resources or industrial relations field and who are interested in furthering their studies into the legal and practice aspects of employment law and industrial relations.
With frequent changes to legislation (for example 'Fair Work' and discrimination laws) those working in human resources, business and industrial relations need to remain up-to-date.
This course is relevant to:
-
Graduates wishing to work in employment law
-
Professionals working in employment law, industrial relations or human resources management
-
Business owners needing to know about current legislation regarding employment
-
Court and tribunal officials seeking to upgrade their qualifications
Course Objectives
The Fair Work legislation has created an enormous thirst for information and training in the area – this course will enable you to become familiar with this area of law and other complementary areas. It is often the case that employment conditions overlap with a range of other legislative requirements, for example discrimination, occupational health and workers’ compensation laws. Fair Work legislation now makes a working knowledge of these areas crucial, while these complementary areas are covered in the course.
Career Outcomes
Employment for graduates is mainly in the industrial relations or human resource management departments of companies as well as employment in state and federal government departments dealing with industrial relations and employment issues.
