Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit
Credit towards a Curtin qualification may be granted to applicants with qualifications from other accredited educational institutions, including polytechnics or universities.
Students may apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in a course, either because they have covered the work in other academic areas or because they have undertaken relevant employment activities. Curtin's policy on RPL is to recognise and reward previous performance while, at the same time, ensuring that a student completes a sufficient number of units to warrant the conferral of an award.
To apply for credit for previous study, students should complete an Application for Credit Transfer form and submit it along with copies of relevant documentation via email to the Centre for eLearning, Curtin University at OpenCurtin@curtin.edu.au. Applications for Credit Transfer should be made prior to registering in any units through Open Universities Australia. Forms can be obtained through the Curtin University website, www.curtin.edu.au or at http://students.curtin.edu.au/administration/forms.cfm. Accepted documentation includes scans of the original/certified Transcripts and/or Award Certificate; front and back; in colour; and original size.
