Student news

You dont need to go to uni to go to Orientation

OUA students can now get up to speed quickly by visiting our new online Orientation. There are lots of tips and information for new students, as well as guidance for experienced students in how to plan their study programs, reach milestones and organise their graduation.

Orientation has been specially-designed to help people returning to study after a long break or studying through OUA for the first time. It helps students learn what they need to know, how things work and where to go for more information.

"Orientation is extremely important in preparing students. It introduces them to all the support, services and expectations that come with university study. Once students are familiar with the university environment they become confident and ready to tackle academic studies", said Mr. Stuart Hamilton, OUA CEO.

And while this confidence might sound insignificant, studies have shown that students who take time to familiarise themselves with university life before they start studying, actually enjoy higher rates of success.

How do you access Orientation?

Once you are a student with OUA, you will be able to access Orientation via www.open.edu.au

You can access Orientation whenever you need it, but it's best to visit Orientation before the start of the study period.

At www.open.edu.au, login to My OUA, using your Username and Password.

Once logged in, click on the Orientation link in secondary navigation.

What is in Orientation?

Orientation uses a mixture of audio, text and images to help students get ready to study.

Using the navigation menu on the left side (see image below) of the page you can move in and out of any section of Orientation as you wish.
