OUA awards students for ‘Can Do’ attitudes
Open Universities Australia (OUA) today announced the launch of its ‘Can Do’ Scholarship.
The Scholarship will give students the chance to apply to study at OUA as a Commonwealth supported student and receive assistance with the majority cost of their studies from the Australian Government.
With over 17 years as a leader in online learning, OUA is offering even more ways to support students through a full course of study.
OUA’s core business is providing access to quality online education. In 2012 it will expand on this by offering 100 scholarships to students who have not studied through OUA before and require financial assistance to realise their goals.
Stuart Hamilton, OUA CEO says: “OUA is committed to improving access to undergraduate courses with the introduction of our OUA ‘Can Do’ Scholarship for people who may otherwise struggle to access higher education.”
The opportunity for successful applicants is that they can undertake up to seven fully-funded online units of study, which will in turn make them eligible for a Commonwealth supported program of study.
Students will be given up to two years to complete the required undergraduate and preparatory units which make them eligible for a Commonwealth supported degree program. Applications will officially be accepted as of Tuesday 29 November, 2011. Applications for Study Period 1 close on 20 January, 2012 but further applications can be made year-round.
Unique to OUA is also the ability to be able to begin the scholarship or study in any one of its four study periods each year.
“The whole premise of OUA’s ‘Can Do’ Scholarship is that it gets you closer to realising your career goals, without the worry of financial stress or your level of previous study experience,” said Mr Hamilton.
OUA encourages all Australians who have the determination to complete an undergraduate degree but have so far faced challenges along the way, to take the first step in securing their future by applying for OUA’s ‘Can Do’ Scholarship today.
