Description

This unit is designed to enable you to apply your academic learning to a contemporary workplace situation. The integration of work-based learning and academic learning, commonly referred to as Work Integrated Learning (WIL), will allow you to solve authentic business problems or address real issues faced in organisations. This unit provides a theoretical and practical introduction to various dispute resolution processes. It will provide an introduction to the principles of dispute management and resolution used by lawyers, with particular emphasis on negotiation, mediation and litigation. Issues, such as communication techniques, conflict escalation, competitive versus cooperative approaches, and dealing with ‘difficult people’ will also be covered.
