This course is suitable for a broad range of students across a range of industries including vocational education and training (VET) sector, corporate training, training and assessment. 

This qualification reflects the roles of individuals delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.

Achievement of this qualification or an equivalent by trainers and assessors is a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework Essential Standards for Registration (Standard 1 as outlined in Appendix 2 of the Users' Guide to the Essential Standards for Registration).

This qualification, or the skill sets derived from units of competency within it, is also suitable preparation for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context, as a component of a structured VET program.

Job roles associated with this qualification relate to the delivery of training and assessment of competence within the VET sector.  Possible job titles and roles relevant to this qualification include:

  • enterprise trainer
  • enterprise assessor
  • registered training organisation (RTO) trainer

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

Special Requirements

  • It is recommended students have access to a workplace environment or simulated workplace environment
  • Access to a computer and the internet is essential
  • Internet Explorer version 6, 7 or 8 or Firefox

Assessment

Currently in the TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, students undertake assignments (enhanced by facilitator contact) and project work to complete the course.

Award Requirements

Students must complete a total of 10 units (7 Core units plus 3 Elective units).

Recommended Study Pattern

Online delivery of Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is suitable both for those who are seeking to undertake the full qualification as well as those who are seeking to undertake a single unit or cluster of units.To maximise student learning outcomes it is suggested that the following unit sequences are followed if students intend to complete the entire qualification:

• TAEDES402A* prior to undertaking; TAEDEL401A, TAEASS401B, TAEDES401A, TAEDEL301A or TAEDEL403A
• TAEDEL401A* prior to undertaking TAEDEL402A
• TAEASS401B* prior to undertaking TAEASS402B, and TAEASS402B prior to TAEASS403A
• TAEASS401B* and TAEASS402B* prior to undertaking TAEASS502B

Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit

Recognition of prior learning is a process that assesses the individual’s formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of, a qualification.

Applicants with relevant on-the-job experience or with completion of part of a relevant course may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning. If you believe you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning you will need to provide details of your relevant qualifications or experience in the application form for the course.
