Business practices are constantly evolving and now more than ever employers are seeking that their employees update their skills through training and further education. The Monash University Bachelor of Business Studies gives students the flexibility to combine major and minor streams to suit their own business interests.
The degree is designed to achieve depth and breadth in the study of human resource management, management and marketing majors. The course includes units from Monash University and other universities.
This degree offers you the choice of studying majors in one or two of the following areas:
- Human Resource Management
- Management
- Marketing
Career Outcomes
Students completing the Bachelor of Business Studies acquire a broad knowledge of business, with the focus on Human Resources Management, Management and/or Marketing, needed in both the commercial and/or non-profit sectors. The skills students gain in this degree could provide the competitive advantage required to achieve a successful career in today's business world.
Transition Arrangements
Open Universities Australia will be offering a new Bachelor of Business degree provided by Griffith University commencing Study Period 3, 2011. This course will be replacing the Bachelor of Business Studies offered by Monash University which is being discontinued at the end of the academic year (SP4) 2011.
Only students who registered with Monash University prior October 1st 2010 and have completed at least eight Monash Business units through OUA by the end of the academic year (SP4) 2011 will be eligible to complete this award.
Credit arrangement to allow student to complete units with other providers are in place to assist registered students to complete their degree. Please see the Award Requirements section for more information.
For students who would like to graduate with the Bachelor of Business Studies (Monash), a number of Griffith University and Swinburne University units will be accepted for credit by Monash University. Please refer to the table of Monash unit equivalences below. Please note that these are equivalencies for the Monash Bachelor of Business Studies. For equivalencies for other degrees you will need to consult the relevant degree description. Prerequisite requirements may also differ from these equivalencies.

Special Requirements
Students who are enrolled on campus at Monash University must first seek approval from their Degree Coordinator before enrolling in Open Universities Australia units; permission is not automatic. Students who do not do this will not gain credit for specific Open Universities Australia units studied.
Award Requirements
To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Business Studies, students must complete 24 units, consisting of:
- At least eight units from Monash's Faculty of Business and Economics (marked with *)
- A maximum of ten Level 1 units
- At least six Level 3 units
- Six core units
- At least one major sequence of seven units, from human resource management, management or marketing
- Eleven electives - these electives can be used to study a second major, specialisation, or other undergraduate unit offered by Open Universities Australia. A maximum of eight elective units can be taken from a program other than the Bachelor of Business Studies
- Students must complete the degree within 8 years of registering for the degree

This degree is available only to students who have already registered with Monash University.
