Basic GST/BAS taxation principles course.
TAFE SA Regional is offering two open entry Vocational Education Training (VET) units:
- FNST035A - FNSBKPG404A Carry Out Business Activity and Instalment Activity Statement Tasks
- FNST036A - FNSBKPG405A Establish and Maintain a Payroll System.
These units are stand alone units. They are not part of a qualification currently offered through OUA. Students can enrol into units without restriction. Students may also apply for academic credit towards a course through OUA or with another education institution.
Career Outcomes
The BAS Agent Registration Requirements for the Tax Practitioners Board include these two BAS units. Please refer to the Tax Practitioners Board for further information as these units alone do not qualify for BAS registration.
This is a basic GST/BAS taxation principles course providing useful knowledge for students seeking to develop a career in accounting or business, as well as small business owners and sole traders seeking the skills to handle their own BAS procedures.
Transition Arrangements
Please be advised: this skillset will be removed from offer at the conclusion of study period 4, 2012. If you intend to complete this skillset you will need to do so by SP4, 2012.

To be awarded these units, students must successfully complete the assessments (invigilated examinations).

Recommended Study Pattern
It is advisable that both of these units are completed at the same time due to similarity in content. This is not a mandatory requirement and the units can be completed individually if required.
Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit
Recognition of Prior Learning is a process that assesses the individual’s formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of a qualification.
Applicants with relevant on-the-job experience or with completion of part of a relevant course may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning. If you believe you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning you will need to provide details of your relevant qualifications or experience in the Application form for the course.
