New VET and postgraduate courses introduced for 2011
Open Universities Australia is increasing the range of its vocational education and training (VET) offerings in 2011.
New courses delivered through Gippsland TAFE and Swinburne University of Technology, TAFE, will include the Diploma of Children's Services and Diploma of Accounting.
Students will have a convenient and flexible way to access a growing range of vocationally-focused courses.
Gippsland TAFE is offering two new courses through OUA for Study Period 1, 2011. These are:
- Diploma of Children's Services (Outside school hours care)
- Diploma of Community Services (Alcohol, other drugs and mental health)
Swinburne University of Technology, TAFE is offering:
- Diploma of Accounting
If you are interested in studying one of these courses you will need to complete an application form online before you can enrol. This form must be returned before Friday 28 January 2011.

New postgraduate courses
As well as the addition of the new VET courses and a new provider, OUA is pleased to announce that three new postgraduate courses will be offered in 2011. These new courses reflect important industry trends and offer postgraduate students new opportunities to further their careers through study with OUA.
Curtin University is offering:
Two new courses will be available through Macquarie University:
- Master of International Security Studies
- Master of International Security Studies / Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism
Curtin University's Master of Science (Science and Mathematics Education) is designed to assist experienced teachers with furthering their skills in delivering high-quality teaching in these important curriculum areas.
The Master of International Security Studies from Macquarie University will offer students the opportunity to examine the shifting landscape of security issues in a regional and global context. It is also being offered as a double Masters with Macquarie's popular Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism.
The availability of these courses is in keeping with OUA's commitment to providing contemporary, industry-leading postgraduate courses that reflect the current employment market and student interests.
