Linfox and Westpac sign up to OUA education agreement
Open Universities Australia has continued its partnership with leading Australian companies by recently signing agreements with Westpac and Linfox to provide higher education services for their staff.
Through OUA, Linfox's 15,000 employees and Westpac's more than 36,000 employees will have access to more than 1100 units and 130 qualifications from 18 universities and other higher education providers nationally.
OUA enrolments from business and corporate partnerships have increased 42% in 2010 over the previous year.
Westpac is the second major bank in Australia to embrace OUA as a higher-education extension of their employee benefits program.
OUA Executive Director Marketing and Business Development, Cratis Hippocrates, said: "OUA benefits organisations by giving them a single access point to a national network of leading tertiary education providers, making it easier for human resources personnel to manage, and ideal for companies with branches spread around the country."
"The flexibility of online learning and breadth of choice through OUA will give Westpac and Linfox employees the opportunity to upskill and prepare for their next career step, while continuing their professional working lives," he said.
Westpac and Linfox employees who undertake courses through OUA will receive additional benefits such as textbook vouchers, academic support with an online tutor and advice from enrolment advisors to help match career aspirations with a specific study plan for each student.
Linfox HR President, Leonard Vary, said: "Open Universities Australia offers Linfox employees a flexible opportunity to enhance and further their knowledge and experience. In combination with Linfox College, the Open Universities Australia option encourages our employees to become the future leaders within Linfox."
Westpac HR Group General Manager, Christine Parker, said: "At Westpac we believe in continuous development and this affiliation provides opportunities for personal development that are outside of our normal training and study assistance programs."
OUA has been creating staff development portals over the past 12 months with partners such as National Australia Bank, IAG Asset Management, Australian Defence Force and Australian air Express.
